Our Acrobatics students learn how to train their bodies safely to do tricks, lifts and tumbles through choreographed dance. They also learn the history of Acrobatics, its place and development in the context of circus, lindy hop, jazz, tap and urban dance. For safety reasons, entry to the Acrobatics class is on upon teacher referral. It is important that young acrobatic dancers have an equal balance of both strength and flexibility as well as a high level of co-ordination, fully developed nervous system and a suitable range of motion.  (strictly no under 7’s). The curriculum covers training and development of alignment with a focus on control and injury prevention.

 

Note: Acrobatics for dance and stage demands a different presentation and technical requisite to that of circus acrobatics or gymnastics.
